January was a pretty solid gaming month. My regular Monday night online game group started meeting up again after an end of the year lull. A Tuesday night online group has now appeared. The Ladies’ Table group at my FLGS is back again. Met up with a friend on MLKJr Day since the library was closed (and I wanted to be a way from the news) and then on January 31st, I went to level up and played 6 games in a single night!
Captain Flip is still my go-to game on BGA and now that I have a physical copy, I take it with me to every meet up. I just adore it.
I got pulled back into Looot this month also, has to reteach myself the strategy after not playing for several months. I’d really like to play this at the table to see how the tiles all fit together.
I taught my Ladies’ Table group how to play Clank and also did a couple turn-based games on the app (though I timed out on one since I was at Level Up and couldn’t take my turns oops! Poor planning on my part).
Smallworld is one of those games people cite as their first entry into modern gaming, but I am just now learning it via BGA.
I am slowly becoming a Garphill Games fan. I don’t think I have been disappointed by anything in their catalog yet. Last year, I played Legacy of Yu, Hadrian’s Wall, and now I’ve played 2/3 of the South Tigris trilogy. I played Wayfarer’s in January and Inventors in Feburary and both were just SO good. They are just the right amount of crunchy for me.
Anything you see in the list above that you want to know more about? Let me know in the comments!
(p.s. I am cross-posting to my Wordpress blog also since I know SubStack is still problematic with the owners supporting the people dismantling my government so…I dunno, this space is weird but since my stuff is free…if you don’t want to follow here, follow me there!)
Great selection! Speaking of Garphill, have you tried Paladins of the West Kingdom yet? It’s a great game !
