PAX Unplugged Countdown - 2 days to go!
Okay, I am never posting this much again in a row...
The excitement is palpable! My socials are full of board gamers preparing for this weekend in Philadelphia. Some of my friends are already on the road! I know I am a bit spoiled, with the drive a comfortable 2 hours away from my house. It makes it very easy to just roll out whenever.
I will be driving up on Thursday. I like to be up and ready to go as soon as the convention opens on Friday and driving up that morning would be TOO much! There’s usually enough people floating around on Thursday in the hotel lobby or local game cafes that you can start playing pretty much as soon as you want. It’s just the Official Fun is not until Friday morning at 10am.
I do not have a shopping list for PAX - I am very fortunate to live near one of the best gaming stores ever. BUT there is one thing they won’t have and that is any of the games from the Indie Games Night Market.
This is a small collection of small print runs of games, usually self-published by the designer. Last year’s big hit was “High Tide”, which I completely missed out on because it sold out in seconds but luckily it is now getting a wider release. This year, my plan is to line up a little bit earlier so the odds of me snagging at least one of the titles I want goes up.
So, if I do splurge on anything, it will most like be something from this event.
Last year, I didn’t do any shopping until Sunday evening. Then I got some discount games, which was cool...though embarrassingly, one of them is STILL in shrink as I sit here typing this! Oops!
Did you have anything you were searching for at PAX? Or are you resisting the urge to splurge?

Have a blast!
Safe travels tomorrow!
