I had every intention of getting into a pattern for posting here, I really did. But the news this past month has been rough for my board game friends in the industry so it’s been hard to find my joy long enough to post about games because I am truly worried about so many of them. Every day, it seems another company is posting layoffs or having to shutter their doors.
And, of course, the tabletop industry is just a small subculture example of how I am sure many small businesses around the United States are feeling right now.
But I want to start posting again because there are still lots of great games out there to play, sitting on shelves at your friendly local board game store, waiting to come home with you and get on the table.
And maybe setting aside time to write about my love of games and play will help me feel better too because right now, I just feel a lot of helplessness and despair for what is happening around me - not just related to the tariffs. There are many dumpster fires going on here right now.
ANYWAY! I know we are all subscribed to a lot of Substacks and newsletters and what not - is there a particular day you find yourself reading through your backlog? A time of day that you look at the app to see if anything new has appeared? Let me know in the comments, I am going to set the goal for May to post regularly, weekly even! And hopefully start to build a bit of community here while sharing our moments of joy.
